COLLEGE OF BIOLOGICAL SCIENCE Department of Zoology 6 January, 1998 Re: Cawthra Bush Salamanders Dear Donald, Here is the information on the six larval specimens that were collected on the 21" of August, 1997. Electrophoretic analysis revealed that these salamanders were triploid hybrids. All specimens were females with one set of chromosomes from a Blue-spotted Salamander (Ambystoma laterale) and two sets of chromosomes from a Jefferson Salamander (Ambystoma jeffersonianum). The genotype of these animals is the same as for the one we analyzed earlier. If you have any further questions regarding this analysis feel free to contact us at Guelph. Sincerely - Dr. James P.
