Pair ordered to close shelter for stray cats

Mississauga Council has given puss the boot.
 A couple who have run a shelter for sick and abandoned cats out of their city owned home since 1983 have been told to close it down and get off the property in 120 days.

 Despite Brian and Lois Stevens' emotional plea that they be allowed to stay at the Burnhamthorpe Rd. W. house to continue their work council voted 9-1 yesterday to end their monthly tenancy agreement.

 Councilors cited violation of the city's animal control bylaw and the unsafe condition of the 75-year-old house as reasons for ordering the eviction.
