No democracy By Virginia Kent - Mississauga Dear Editor: Mississauga council voted last week to throw away more of our money. The rent the Stevenses would have paid the city over the next two years would have amounted to some $40,000. The cost of demolishing the residence (an unnecessary exercise – it looked fine) will of course be borne by the taxpayer. What kind of bylaw mentality can make no exceptions for aging residents, helpless creatures and private charity? Bully for Councillors Culham and Southorn – they come out brave heroes. Kennedy claims all the cats have been adopted – true or false? Are there any grounds for municipal impeachment? Fiscal mismanagement? (Columnist Albert) Atkins is right this is hardly democracy.
