Mar. 7, 1989    Memorandum       File: A.13.204

To  R. K. JOHNSTON, DIRECTOR
Dept.  REALTY SERVICES

From  IAN W. SCOTT, COMMISSIONER
Dept. RECREATION & PARKS DEPARTMENT

SUBJECT:     Bird Property 1469 Burnhamthorpe Road

I am in receipt of a copy of a memorandum-from Frank Coppinger to Sil Spera regarding this property.  I would reiterate that it is the desire of the Recreation and Parks Department to demolish this building in view of the report prepared by Mr. Coppinger and the potential liabilities to the City.  In addition, the building is not required for the medium or long term use of the public gardens.  Also, we wish to advise that monies have been included in the Recreation and Parks Department 1989 Current Budget to demolish this building.

I would suggest that you put together an In Camera report for committee to recommend demolition of this dwelling.  This should be done in the not too distant future so that the work can be carried out in the Summer or Fall.

Please contact me should you have questions or concerns.

Ian W. Scott, Commissioner  -  Recreation & Parks Department

c.c.      D. A. Lychak, City Manager
             F. Coppinger, Director of Building Services
             R. Doyle, Director of Parks
