Members of the Ontario Civilian Commission on Police Services Sam Cancilla, - Mr. Cancilla, a Barrie businessman, served as a City alderman from 1985 to 1992. During that time, he was a municipal representative on the Barrie Police Services Board, assisting in the transition from the Police Act to the Police Services Act, 1990, which came into effect in 1991. He has been active in community affairs for many years and has served on the Board of the Royal Victoria Hospital Foundation. Frederic G. Farrell, QC. - Mr. Farrell is a Windsor lawyer, who was called to the Bar In 1973 and made a Queen's Counsel in 1985. He is currently a counsel with the firm of Monforton Robitaille Ducharme & Skipper. He is a past Director of the Windsor Symphony and a Follow of the Royal Society of Arts (London, England). In addition he is the President of the Windsor Club. Karlene Hussey, - Ms. Hussey is a Stratford lawyer and businessperson. She served on the Stratford Police Services Board from 1989 to 1995, acting as Chair from 1991. She was elected to the Board of Directors of the Ontario Association of Police Services Boards in 1992 and served until 1995. She has been active In community affairs for many years and has served on the Board of the Stratford General Hospital Foundation. Benson Lou, M.D. - Dr. Lau is a Toronto family physician. He is currently Medical Director of the Drs. Paul and John Rekai Centre In Toronto. Until his appointment to the Commission, he was Chair of the Chinatown Community Police Liaison Committee, working with 14 and 52 Divisions of the Toronto Police Service. He is also Director of the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto. Barbara Morland Wellard, - Ms. Wellard Is a North Bay lawyer. She was called to the bar In 1980 and is currently a partner in the law firm of Valin Partners. She served as a part-time Chair of the Board of Inquiry under the authority of the Police Services Act, 1990. Until recently, she was Chair of the Board of Nipissing Transition House, a home for battered women and their children. Charles B. Rycroft, - Mr. Rycroft is a Whitby businessman. He is a veteran of the Royal Canadian Armored Corps and to Royal Canadian Air Force, serving from 1943 to 1947. He served a two-year term on the Whitby District School Board and was on the Board of Governors of Trafalgar Castle School for ten years. Bob Saracino, - Mr. Saracino served as Mayor of the City of Port Colborne from 1977 to 1995, He is currently a Niagara Region councillor. He has wide experience working on community commissions and boards, and has acted as Commissioner of the Port Colborne Hydro Electric Commission and Director of the Port Colborne/Wainfleet Chamber of Commerce. Michele J. Shephard, - Ms. Shepherd is a past member, Board of Directors, Women's Habitat of Etoblcoke, a shelter for abused women and their children. She chaired Fund Raising Committee for flour years and Properties Committee for three years. She was also a volunteer with the Children's Aid Society of Metropolitan Toronto. Ms. Shephard has been involved in many community fund raising activities In the Greater Toronto Area. She is a former member of TREB and President of Michele Interiors Inc. since 1974. G. Douglas Smith, - Mr. Smith is a Sundridge lawyer. He was called to the Bar in 1975 and is currently a partner in the law firm of Smith and Hardy. He is a member of the Sundridge-Strong Volunteer Fire Department. Brenda
Weese, - is a Frankford Registered Practical Nurse. She
Is currently employed at Campbellford Memorial Hospital. She served as
Reeve of Murray Township from 1988 to 1997, including a term as Warden
of Northumberland County In 1995-96. She is a past member of the
Board of Directors of Northumberland Children's Kid Society.
